Mr. Strycula promoted to principal
Mr. Joey Strycula will be the next principal of COHS, effective July 1. Mr. Strycula has been working at the school as an administrator for nine years, and he has been involved in the community all his life.
Mr. Strycula attended Charter Oak Unified School District as a child, and he graduated from COHS. He feels very attached to the district. “I feel connected 100 percent. Charter Oak is in my heart,” he said.
Mr. Strycula was a history teacher before he became a dean and then vice principal. His daughter will be attending COHS next year as well.
When he becomes principal of COHS, he will have different responsibilities than he did as vice principal. The principal has a wider variety of responsibilities and has more oversight, instead of concentrating on specific areas. “It will be more challenging and more responsibility, but it won’t be too difficult,” said Mr. Strycula.
