Party buses and limousines lined the streets. The sound of heels clicked on the sidewalks. An aura of excitement spilled over the venue. It was Homecoming night, and royalty would be crowned.

Audrey Canoy, senior, was crowned queen at the Homecoming Game the night before. The king was yet to be announced, but from the sound of the crowd, everybody already knew who it would be: Talon Love.

It seems as though royalty really does get passed down the family line. Audrey’s older sister, Patricia, was queen before her. Talon’s sister, Morgan, received the crown as well. Now it was their little siblings’ turn, and it was well deserved.

Audrey, among many things, is the president of Filipino Club, a tennis player, and an IB certificate student.

“Audrey is one of my favorite people,” said Miya Busch, senior. “She’s such a sweetheart and she never ceases to amaze me. I’m so glad she won queen, because she’s such a humble person.”

According to Mrs. Bonnie Shockey, English teacher, Talon spreads smiles wherever he goes. Also an IB Certificate student, he is commonly referred to as the class clown and able to capture everyone’s attention during class in a way that is both intellectual and amusing.

“Talon is one-of-a-kind,” said Xean Nguyenla, senior. “He is one of the most genuine people I know, and he tries to make the best out of any situation. He is indisputably true to you and brings everyone together into a jolly period of happiness at all times. He hates dealing with other people’s negativity and would rather fuel positive vibes.”

According to Anthony Nazy, senior, Talon is likeable because of his “funny nature, and the fact that he’s so easy to get along with.” To him, Talon deserved the crown because of his outgoing nature and the way he can appeal to all. “That’s what makes him a good Homecoming king,” he said.

The other princes and princesses on the court dazzled the crowd in their own ways and were honored to be voted along with each other. The theme may have been Alice in Wonderland, but it was definitely a Night to Remember, fitted with royalty who deserved their crowns.
