Mr. Steve Smith, Engineering Design and science teacher, and the CO Auto Club were dismissed from their fourth and fifth periods to assist in the arrangement of the annual Auto Show in the quad.

However, this year was a bit different. With the memorial for the victims of the Majory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting already set up in the quad, there wasn’t as much space to have as many classic or modern cars as there was in the past. Regardless, the display of cars still caught the attention of many students.

Senior, junior, sophomore and freshman classes each had the opportunity to select a specific car that they believed was the best on display. Seniors chose a 1969 Rally Sport Camaro brought in by a man named TJ. Juniors chose a 1965 Thunderbird owned by Vic Cunningham, and sophomores and freshmen (who chose together) settled on a 1965 Red Pontiac GTO, brought in by John Hussey. The cars were owned by members of the Cal-Rods Car Club, a San Gabriel-based club who has its own events and supports numerous car shows.  The winners for best car each went home with a one of a kind CO Auto Club T-shirt.

“Yesterday was a really cool, chill day,” said Marlon Pinedo, senior. “We’ve [auto club seniors] been a part of this show for four years, and it’s awesome to end it with a unique display such as the one yesterday.”
