Sashes, certificates, cords and tassels: Senior Awards Night

On Mon., May 21, many seniors and parents walked out of the Covina Assembly of God holding bundles of cords or folders of certificates in hand.  These seniors, who had completed their years of high school with honors, had just been given accolades at Senior Awards Night.

The awards were presented by a variety of staff and members of the Charter Oak community.  Noah Que was announced as Valedictorian and highest GPA and Naomi Galeazzi was announced as Salutatorian.  Louis Farrar was named as the winner of the Gold Key award.

Noami Galeazzi was named salutatorian for the Class of 2018.

ASB officers along with academic honors such as the Golden State Seal, Biliteracy Seal, IB Diploma and Certificate, National Honors Society, CSF, honors and highest honors were also awarded at the ceremony.  In addition, Quill and Scroll, ASL, Thespian and AVID awards were also given.

Mrs. Kira Grund, IB coorinator, award cords and stoles to IB diploma and certificate candidates. Priscila Manzo receives a certificate as a Gold State Seal Merit Diploma Candidate.

Amearah Belmont received Paul Knott Memorial Scholarship from the Lion’s Club presenter, Mr. Mike Rosen.

Other awards included scholarships from PTSA, Rotary, Kiwanis, COCSF, the US Navy and more.  These scholarships were awarded to seniors who would go on to use them to pay for college tuition or join the military.

Athletes were awarded as well for athletic as well as academic achievement. Sela Pastrana was the Female Athlete of the Year. She will be competing at State on June 2.

Jermaine Braddock was named the Male Athelete of the Year.

Congratulations to all of the seniors!  Only a few more days until graduation!
